如果这段译文没有问题的话那第一个问题的group则肯定是‘汇总’的意思了.但句子中明明是major social sciences have substituted the study of one local variation即总体代替局部啊,到底应该如何理解?为什么?
句子2中明明写到major social sciences have substituted the study of one local variation即主要社会科学代替了局部研究（虽然这样意思就不通了，但根据字面的确是这样的）。而译文确是社会学科用对一个局部的研究替代对整体的研究？请问这应该如何理解？
