对将来的虚拟,条件句的谓语有三式：1.过去式,2.should+V 3.were to+V.
主句是would +V.
本题句为第三式,且通过倒装省略了if,=If he were to leave today,he would get there by Friday.
Today这个时间,不同人不同时间有不同的概念.这里实际上指的是“最近的将来”,比如说这话是在上午,如果他下午、晚上12点之前动身的话,都可以说是今天走的.如果他今天走的话,实际上假设的是今天的,（但不是此刻的）一个将来的时间.然后主句是一个更后的将来的时间：Friday,那今天肯定不是周五.应该是周一至周三吧.不会是周四,因为那样会说明天就到了.
